| The Roman Road |

| This ancient packhorse route runs over the Pennines, between Rochdale and Elland, Halifax. Although marked as 'Roman' on the maps, there is no direct evidence that it existed in Roman times - the earliest known reference to a road here is found in 12th century documents. |
